Fit Food and Craft Fair Brings Creativity to Bolton Weekend

This weekend in Bolton, it’s the Ironman Bolton 70.3, a prestigious half-distance triathlon with the main event scheduled for June 7, 2026. The event features a 1.9 km swim at Pennington Flash, followed by a challenging 90 km bike course through Bolton's hilly terrain, and concluding with a 21.1 km run in the heart of the city centre. On Saturday, it was the kids' version of the event.

For spectators, Bolton Town Centre is the go-to place to witness the race but also partake in the host of activities the town has to offer.  This year, the Market Place is host to the Fit Food and Craft Fair. Taking place across the weekend, the fair offers a mix of handmade crafts and delicious foods.

One such stall is Gary Storey, an artist selling their piece, each inspired by the music they listen to. They describe the process as ‘never having a final image in mind’ as they let the song ‘inspire the piece.’ Mr. Storey spoke about how music has a world of different meanings and finding the ‘Joy of interpreting a song differently on a second listen’. Stylised like a mandala painting.

They are just one of many crafters with stalls in the Market Place this weekend. Another being Belle & Boo who create fun designs for tumblers of all sizes and whimsical bookmarks.

Fit Food and Craft Fair continues on 7th June in the Market Place, Bolton.
